Margaret Cecelia Hopfl, 92, of Duncansville, formerly of Altoona, passed away Sunday at her daughter's residence. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late William and Esther (McDermott) Lunglhofer.
Margaret married John B. Hopfl on July 11, 1953. He preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 2005.
She is survived by two daughters, Lynne Hopfl of Palmyra and Debbie Tantius (Don) of Duncansville, with whom she resided; two grandsons, Adam Lardieri (Nikki) and Aaron Lardieri, both of Altoona; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Cecelia Lardieri; her brother, Denny Lunglhofer (Peggy) of Altoona; five nephews; also, Elizabeth Benjamin and brother-in-law, Richard Prendergast.
Margaret was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Prendergast.
She was a 1952 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and received her Bachelor of Science in business education from Penn State University, and her master's degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Margaret retired from Penn State Altoona as the Director of Continuing Education after 32 years of service. Following her retirement, she worked as a business teacher with the Altoona Area School District from 2000-06.
She was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altoona.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1405 Fifth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. with Father Mariusz Gorazd, celebrant.
Committal will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Altoona.
Arrangements are by The Stevens Mortuary Inc., Altoona.
