Lori Crownover, 64, of Hollidaysburg, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior, Jesus, whom she loved and faithfully served, on Monday. She was born at White Sands Missile Range, N.M., to Frank E. Creighton and Nancy J. Creighton of Altoona.
Lori is survived by her husband of 43 years and best friend of 50 years, Keith Crownover; her mother, Nancy Creighton; sisters: Kelley Massaro (Bruce), Yvonne Creighton and Wendi Cadle (Jamie); daughters, Rachel Alden (Ryan) and Abigail Crownover (Nat Fasick); son, Ben Crownover; goddaughter, Jenny Mao; grandchildren: Caleb, Norah, Tommy and Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Creighton; and sister, Sherri Creighton.
Lori was a member of Altoona Alliance Church for 21 years, serving in many ministries. She directed the church's adult ESL program, Altoona English and Culture Club, for eight years and also served in children's ministry, women's ministry, small groups, GriefShare and other ministries. She was honored as the 2025 WISE Women of Blair County Education Honoree for her ESL work.
A dedicated educator, Lori taught multiple elementary grades in the Bellwood-Antis School District before joining Penn State Altoona as an adjunct instructor. For the final six years of her career, she served as a Supervisor of Pre-Service Teachers and Instructor in Education, supervising student teachers in Blair County schools.
Lori treasured her family and loved spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, gardening, walking, hiking, biking and spending time in nature. At age 42, she completed the Canoe Creek triathlon, winning her age category.
Lori's greatest desire was for others to know Jesus in a real and personal way. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, students, church family and all whose lives she touched.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, at Altoona Alliance Church, 3220 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, with Pastor Tim McGarvey officiating. Private interment will be made at New Canoe Creek Cemetery.
