James G. Snyder, 86, of Antis Township, died Thursday at his home. He was born in Antis Township, a son of the late Robert R. and Verna A. (Brooks) Snyder.
On Jan. 23, 1959, he married the love of his life and his whole world, Beverly A. Craine, at Logan's Valley Baptist Church, Bellwood. She preceded him in death on Nov. 1, 2018.
Surviving are his children: Tina A. (Bob) Hurm and Teresa A. (Dan) Patterson, both of Altoona, and James G. Jr. of Bellwood; nine grandchildren: Lauren (Matt) Hershey, Matthew (Chelsea) Hurm, Jennifer Hurm, Ryan Leamer, Erin (Shad) Leamer, Christopher (Devin) Leamer, James Snyder III, Jenna Snyder and Jessica (Mike) Kyper; nine great-grandchildren; his brother, Charles "Benson" Snyder of Antis Township; and his beloved pets, Angel and Scooter.
He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters.
James was a self-employed mason and owner of Snyder Masonry.
He enjoyed hunting and watching the wildlife from his home.
A private service will be held at the convenience of his family.
Arrangements are by Jon C. Russin Funeral Home Inc., Bellwood.
The family suggests that contributions in his memory be made to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
