Harvey Wayne Myers, 76, of Tyrone, passed away peacefully on Monday at The Preserve at Cedarwood, Tyrone. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Harvey Jr. and Louella Grace (Smith) Myers.
He was a graduate of Tyrone Area High School in 1967 and spent 48 years working as a machinist at the Chicago Rivet Co. in Tyrone.
On Aug. 11, 1982, Harvey married Anna Marie Johnson, who survives in Tyrone.
He is also survived by children, Darin Hand (Noelle) of Tyrone and Alison Casillo (Dan) of Altoona; grandchildren: Phoenix Farias (Mikala), Nicholas Casillo, Balin Hand, Annalise Casillo, Aidan Casillo and Hollynd Hand; and his beloved dog, Baron. Also surviving are his sisters: Sherry Derman (Larrie) of Tyrone, Penny Erney of Carlisle and Pam Markel (Bill) of Warriors Mark; his special nephew, Bob Mertiff (Jenny) of Callahan, Fla.; and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Lynn (Jerry).
Harvey attended Christ United Methodist Church in Tyrone and lived a life grounded in faith, family and simple joys. He loved stock and sprint car racing, enjoyed playing one of his many guitars and had a lifelong passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles. He enjoyed tinkering with cars and bikes, and he will be fondly remembered for his special Harleys and his iconic '59 Corvette.
Above all, Harvey deeply loved his family. Time spent with his grandchildren brought him great joy. His presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, at Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone; and from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at noon on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, at Tyrone Alliance Church, with the Rev. Carl A. Schmidt Sr. officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
