Clair S. "Greg" McGregor, 92, of Altoona, died early Thursday morning at Hilltop Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Altoona. He was born in Williamsburg, a son of the late John George and Sarah Jane (Brantner) McGregor.
He married Shirley L. Fogal on Feb. 28, 1953, in Winchester, Va. She preceded him in death on May 31, 2016.
Surviving are three daughters: Tonda Carruthers (John), Tina McGregor and Tami Buchanan (Jim); five grandchildren: Jason Carruthers (Kristie), Brett Carruthers, Trey Carruthers, Alissa Buchanan Myers and Christopher Buchanan (Justine); 13 great-grandchildren; five siblings: sister, Ruby Bussard; sister, Martha Bookhamer; brother, James McGregor (Cindy); sister, Agnes Hammel; and sister, Della Leonard (Rich), all of Williamsburg; numerous extended family members; and his beloved dog, Caroline.
Greg was preceded in death by a brother; two sisters; and a grandson, Ryan Carruthers on March 12, 2014.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Juniata.
He retired from the sales department of Makdad Supply, Altoona, and had previously been employed as a knitter for Puritan Sportswear with 26 years' service.
Greg enjoyed bowling, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State football, but he most especially enjoyed watching all his grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with his entire family.
He was an over 50-year lifetime member of the Bavarian Aid Society, Altoona.
Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 5 p.m., with the Rev. Elizabeth Hess officiating.
Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
