Christopher B. Cohn, 72, of Duncansville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born in Pittsburgh, son of the late Melvin and Rosemary (McCann) Cohn.
In 1979, Christopher married the love of his life, Renee J. Cohn.
Chris earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Penn State University and proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. He dedicated 41 years of his life to public service as a police officer, serving with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, the Altoona Bureau of Police, Allegheny Township Police and Penn State Altoona University Police.
Deeply committed to his community, Chris actively participated in numerous organizations, including Contact Altoona, NAMI, the Blair Emergency Service Chaplain Platoon, Marketplace Chaplains and Night Out Against Crime.
A faithful member of the Grace Bible Church family since 1983, Chris served as a past Deacon, Sunday school teacher and small group leader.
Chris is survived by his loving wife, Renee; his sons, Jared Cohn (Dawn) and Ian Cohn (Deanna); his grandchildren: Abigail, Aviva, Joanna, Owen and Elizabeth; his brothers: Thomas, Robert (Donna), Matthew and Liam; his sisters, Sarah (Vince) and Moira; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his siblings: Blanche, Keith, Kevin and Sean; and infant brother, Michael.
Throughout his life, Chris held close the words of C.T. Studd: "Only one life, 'twill soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last."
Family and friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, at Grace Bible Church, 164 Laurel Lane, Hollidaysburg; and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026, where a celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. with military honors.
