Carolyn Jane Deavor

Carolyn Jane (Long) Deavor, 74, of Claysburg, passed away Sept. 10, 2026, at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Robert and Adah (Hodgson) Long. Carolyn was the youngest of four children.

She was a 1969 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School.

Carolyn married the love of her life, Clair, on Aug. 10, 1974. They have five children: Katherine Benton (Scott) of Claysburg, Heather Loucks (Tom) of Altoona, Jarrod (Terrilynn) of Martinsburg, Stephanie of Claysburg and Michelle of Claysburg; she has nine beloved grandchildren: Brandon and Alexis Benton, Sierra and Lucas (Olivia) Rosamilia, Samuel Lloyd, Cael Deavor, Anthony and Miranda Napolitano and Marcus Long; four great-grandchildren: Kailey Rose, Kaizen, Atlas and Soren Lloyd; and a great-granddaughter, expected to arrive soon, Avaline Claire Rosamilia. She is also survived by a brother, Robert Long, of Gurnee, Ill.; and many beloved nieces, nephews and special friends whom she considered family.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Russell Long.

Carolyn loved to travel with her kids and her grandkids. She enjoyed taking trips to places where she could reminisce about her childhood. She loved to spend time with her family, whether playing cards, singing, dancing or attending Penn State wrestling matches.

Carolyn retired from Claysburg Elementary School District as a custodian. After retirement, she worked for several years as a personal care aide/home care aide at The Village at Morrisons Cove. She also babysat many children over the years and always volunteered in the activities her children were involved in.

Carolyn had a big heart for all she met and was loved by all who met her.

Friends will be received from 1 until the 3 p.m. memorial service Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, at Grace Fellowship Church Leamersville Campus, with Pastor Mark Lingenfelter officiating.
