Walter R. Laret

Walter R. Laret, 75, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Thomas M. Sr. and Mary E. (Mullen) Laret.

He married Debra J. Crum, who preceded him in death in 2020 after sharing 35 years of marriage.

Surviving are his daughter, Michelle, and fiance, Purcell, in Maryland; a son, Shawn of Hollidaysburg; three grandchildren: Kendrick, Gage and Maddi; two sisters, Mary Singer and Joanna Laret; four brothers: Thomas Jr., Jack, James and Robert; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard.

Walt graduated from Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School in 1969 and served in the U.S. Navy.

He retired from Texas Eastern Pipeline after 23 years as a Regional Supervisor, and was the owner/operator of Keystone Bobcat.

He was proud of his grandson, Capt. Kendrick Laret, U.S. Army, who graduated from West Point Academy; his granddaughter, Maddax, graduate of Saint Francis University, who will soon give birth to his first great-grandchild; and grandson, Gage, who graduated from Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School.

Walt enjoyed riding horses, hunting, fishing and spending time at the family camp.

Friends will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, 2026, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg. A memorial service will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
