Vera J. Brown, 83, East Freedom, died Saturday. She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late James and Ruth (Brown) Helsel. Surviving is her husband, Ronald; children, Amy Strouse, Ronald Brown Jr. and Wendy Hoover; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Mary June Mock, Freddie Patterson, Eddie Wayne Patterson and Phyllis Knisely-Dodson. Proceeded in death by siblings: James Helsel, Sally Walter and Annabelle Glass. Friends received from noon until the 4 p.m. funeral service on Thursday, Sept. 3, at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. Interment will take place at Claysburg Union Cemetery.
