Robert T. "Bob" Cowfer, 90, Tyrone, went home to be with the Lord Sunday surrounded by his family.
He was born in Port Matilda, son of the late Thomas and Colorado (Cowher) Cowfer. On July 8, 1961, in Tyrone, he married Nancy Lee Burket, who survives. They were married for 65 years.
Also surviving are two sons, Mark (Stephanie) Cowfer and Paul (Deanna) Cowfer, both of Altoona; two daughters, Jeremy Cowfer and Mishael (Craig) Hinton of Philadelphia; seven grandchildren: Robbie, Christopher, Gracie, Madison and Mason Cowfer and Carter and Wyatt Hinton; and a brother, James Cowfer.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Lee Roy Cowfer; and a sister, Cathaleen Cowfer.
Robert was a 1954 graduate of Tyrone High School. He retired as a supervisor at Westvaco in 1998 after 42 years and 10 months of service. He served honorably in the U.S. Army National Guard.
He enjoyed reading his Bible, hunting and fishing, walking, gardening and cooking. He loved cardinals, but most of all, he loved spending time with his wife and family. He was a devoted Christian and a man of faith.
Friends will be received from noon until the 2 p.m. funeral service Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, the Rev. David R. A. McElwee officiating. Private interment will be made at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be made to New Life Methodist Church, P.O. Box 213, State College, PA 16804.
