Patrick T. Jones, 82, of Altoona, died Thursday afternoon after a tractor-related accident on his farm.
He was born in Macon, Georgia, son of the late Robert M. and Martha Virginia (Peters) Jones.
On Feb. 4, 1967, he married Nancy Ann Calabrese at Sacred Heart Church in Altoona. She preceded him in death on May 6, 2025.
Patrick is survived by his children, Patrick T. Jones II and wife, Carolyn, Dr. Scott E. Jones and wife, Susan, Jennifer A. Hite and husband, A. James, Adam T. Jones and wife, Amanda and Stephanie A. Suppa and husband, John J.; 20 grandchildren; and siblings: Robert M. Jones Jr. and wife, Jean, Carol Makdad, Edgar W. Jones and wife, Kaye, Anita M. Dortenzo and husband, Robert, Mary E. O'Meara and husband, Robert Bryan, Virginia M. Dumm and husband, Pat and Melinda M. Flores and husband, Dr. Regino; and a special friend, Terry Mitchell.
He was preceded by a sister, Mary Ann Jones.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served during the Vietnam War era. Patrick was a graduate of Saint Francis University, Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and the Unified Judicial System of Pennsylvania.
Patrick earned the highest rank attainable, an Eagle Scout, in the Boy Scouts of America.
Patrick retired as Judge of Blair County District 24-3-02 after 39 years of service and was a Pennsylvania licensed funeral director. He served on the Board of Supervisors of Logan Township and was also a member of the Marine Corps League, American Legion Post 0827, Logan Township United Fire Department and many additional civic organizations.
He enjoyed gardening and doing large-scale projects around his farm. As a hobby, he also obtained his certification to operate heavy equipment.
Patrick was an avid hunter and enjoyed a good deal at the auction. He always looked forward to taking his grandchildren on hayrides on his farm.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.,Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home Inc., Bellwood, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, with the Rev. Monsignor Stanley B. Carson, celebrant.
Committal with military honors will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
