Mary Grace Helsel, 78, of Hollidaysburg, peacefully passed away July 22, 2026, after a short battle with pneumonia. She was born in Mill Creek, the beloved daughter of Jesse "Arn" Helsel and Allean Mae Helsel, who instilled in her a deep sense of empathy and dedication to helping others. Grace was a beacon of kindness and compassion, who was cherished by her family and all who had the honor of knowing her.

Grace was a devoted mother to her son, Martin Robert Sarvis Jr.; and the grandmother of Tripp Donovan Powers. Grace is also survived by her brother, Jesse; sisters, Kathy Kephart and Sharon Baker; brother, Chris Helsel; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth "Betsy" Helsel.

She was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Marshall Kephart and Thomas Baker; and her sister-in-law, Cheryl Helsel.

A proud graduate of the Altoona School of Nursing, Grace dedicated her career to serving others as a nurse at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. Her commitment to her work and her patients was unparalleled.

Grace's life was rich with interests and pursuits that reflected her vibrant spirit. She had a passion for learning sign language and shared her talents by performing plays and Christmas carols at the Logan Valley Mall. Her love for Christmas was boundless.

In her leisure time, Grace enjoyed shooting pool, visiting casinos and traveling to new places, always seeking adventure and new experiences. Her zest for life was infectious, and she inspired those around her to embrace each moment with enthusiasm and grace. Her legacy lives on in the memories of her family and friends.
