Lenora Benson

March 11, 1924 – Aug. 17, 2026

Lenora Benson, 102, formerly of Duncansville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg. Born in Foot of Ten, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Lenora (Hicks) Grove.

She married Paul R. Benson Sr. on Aug. 19, 1941, at Grace Lutheran Church in Bedford. He preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1973.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Pauline McCall; and five siblings: Frank Grove Sr., Oliver Kirth Grove, John Grove, Wilma Foor and Marian Eckard.

Surviving are three sons: Edward (Dorie), Donald (Beverly) and Paul Jr. (Mary Kay); and four grandchildren: Elaine, Kimberly, Kirth and Aaron.

Lenora was an active charter member of Altoona Bible Church, where she attended faithfully until physically unable.

She was instrumental in sustaining the former Benson Oil Co., where she maintained office cleanliness and facilitated service calls.

In addition to her work with Benson Oil, Lenora played a vital role in the raising of her grandsons, particularly between the ages of birth and 18 years old. She was as influential and involved as a grandmother could be.

Lenora embodied everything it means to be a Christian woman, down to seemingly minute details such as ending most sentences with "Lord willing." If there was ever a human example of unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, it was Lenora Benson.

A private committal service will take place at Carson Valley Cemetery, officiated by pastors Stewart McClelland and Kirth Benson.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., Duncansville.
