Jesse J. Blazer

Jesse J. Blazer, 99, of Altoona died early Thursday morning at his residence. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Jesse L. and Mary G. (Nearhoof) Blazer.

He married Constance L. Locke in 1954 in Winchester, Va.

Surviving are his wife; three children: daughter, Connie L. McKendree of Altoona; son, Stanley J. Blazer (Diane Louise) of Williamsport; and son, Steven J. Blazer (Terri) of Altoona; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four siblings: brother, Samuel Blazer of Antis; sister, Jean Kelly of Altoona; brother, Lee Blazer of Altoona; and brother, Robert Blazer.

Jesse was preceded in death by an infant brother, Ralph Blazer; an infant sister, Irene Blazer; brother, Raymond Blazer; brother, Donald Blazer; and sister, Helen McCann.

Mr. Blazer was a 1945 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in both World War II and the Korean Conflict, attaining the rank of Private First Class.

Jesse was employed as a fireman/brakeman/conductor, first by the Pennsylvania Railroad, then Penn Central Railroad, and finally by Conrail retiring in 1989 with more than 42 years' service.

He enjoyed traveling to Florida.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026, at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood, with Pastor Timothy W. Guyer officiating. Military funeral honors will follow.
