Grant W. Gordon, 65, Tyrone, passed away on Friday.
He was born in Somerset, son of the late Keith Ardell and Hazel Faye (Schrock) Gordon.
On Dec. 19, 1981, at Wesley United Methodist Church, he married Karen (Wilson) Gordon, who survives.
Also surviving are his three children: Rebecca Shultz and husband, Dan, of State College, Julie Pruett and husband, Rob, of Downingtown and Brian Gordon of State College; granddaughters: Madison Shultz, Isla Pruett and Isabelle Pruett; siblings: Garth Gordon and wife, Rhea, Laurel Walters and husband, Marty and Gary Gordon and wife, Daphne; a lifelong friend, Todd Plummer; and his two cats, Maisie and Lainey.
Grant was a 1979 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He was a member of First Church of Christ in Altoona and attended Grays Woods Church. He was a retired Sergeant of the Pennsylvania State Police after 30 years of service, spending the last 10 years of his career with the Bureau of Professional Responsibility. He was instrumental in computerizing and digitizing the State Police Barracks of Central Pennsylvania. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
He enjoyed bird watching and wildlife photography, geocaching, country music, gardening tomatoes and flowers, fixing things and tinkering around the house and computer repair. He was an avid Bible reader. He was a devout family man and loved spending time with them, especially his three beautiful granddaughters.
Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026, at the funeral home, Pastor Drew Foster officiating. Private interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park following the funeral service.
