Catherine F. "Muzzy" (Spidle) Butler, 76, of Duncansville, passed away Tuesday, surrounded by her loving family. Cathy was born in Altoona, daughter of the late John M. and Mary L. Spidle.
She married Ronald E. Butler Jr. on Sept. 7, 1968, at St. Patrick's Church, Newry.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Ronald; her children: Duane R. Butler (Cherie), Lucretia Veckov (Matthew) and Rhonda M. Lutton (Dave); grandsons: Brendan Zelnosky, Aaron D. Butler, Garrett M. and Trevor J. Veckov; sisters: Ann Conrad, Joyce Spidle, Diane Yoder and Carolyn Morris; a brother, Bruce Spidle; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, David and Michael Spidle; and sister, Susan Rhodes.
Cathy was a 1968 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Newry.
Cathy enjoyed many creative hobbies. She was a talented artist, leaving behind hundreds of paintings for her family. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and baking. She was an excellent cake baker/decorator. Everyone loved her baked goods!
Cathy loved vacationing at the beach with her family. She made wonderful memories for her loved ones. Cathy loved shopping and thrifting with her daughters. She had a true gift for taking something old and making it beautiful.
Most of all, she loved spending her days with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her care and soft-spoken demeanor touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
Cathy had a true appreciation for life, a wonderful sense of humor and made the most of every day before leaving this earth, passing into eternity.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, at St. Patrick's Church, Newry.
