Robert ‘Bob’ George McCauley Jr.

Robert “Bob” George McCauley Jr., 69, of Altoona, died Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at home. Born Sept. 25, 1956, in Altoona, he is the eldest child of the late Robert and Zada (Miller) McCauley.

Surviving are two daughters, Danielle (John) Weeden of Altoona and Lindsey (Chris) DeAntonio of Duncansville; three grandchildren: Daniel Zadan McCauley-Weeden, Loralie Lee Weeden and Micah Robert DeAntonio; three siblings: Shawn (Wendy) McCauley of Williamsburg, Patrick (Lisa) McCauley of Newark, Del., and Helen McDowell of Altoona; his ex-wife, Debra McCauley of Altoona; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Shannon Michael McCauley; a sister, Sharon “Missy” Schumacher; and a brother, Bruce McCauley Sr.

Bob was a 1974 graduate of Altoona Area High School and Altoona Vocational-Technical School. He also completed the Saint Francis College Upward Bound Program. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a dog handler via military law enforcement.

He retired after 35 years as a journeyman lineman and was a proud member of the IBEW Local 126. Bob was also a member of the American Legion and enjoyed spending time at local social clubs. He loved hunting and fishing as well as riding his motorcycles. He could be heard cheering on, and criticizing, the Penn State Nittany Lions and his favorite Pittsburgh teams.

A service is being planned for July 31, 2026, at Blair Memorial Park followed by a celebration of life. Further details will be shared when available.

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be given to the family in Bob’s honor. The funds will be used to support fellow journey linemen as they complete their apprenticeships.
