John Donald "Jack" Bost, 73, of Lilly, passed away Friday at UPMC Altoona. Born in Johnstown, he was the son of the late Margie Bost.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Christopher J. Bost; sister, Betty Pikel; brother-in-law, Paul; and father-in-law, John A. Schall.
Jack is survived by his devoted wife, Kathleen "Kathy" (Schall) Bost, with whom he shared 39 wonderful years of marriage; his daughters, Jackie (Cam) Kyle and Abbey Bost and her special friend, Michael Conrad; his cherished grandchildren: Maddie, Noah and Hallie Kyle; and his sister, Sharon Poje; mother-in-law, Grace Schall; sisters-in-law, Colleen (Steve) Bukowski and Janice Silverstein; and brother-in-law, Ken (Carol) Schall; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack was a graduate of the Mount Aloysius College nursing program, where he earned his Registered Nurse license. He had also worked as a paramedic for AMED for 10 years and retired from Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center's Lee Campus.
A faithful member of Our Lady of the Alleghenies Roman Catholic Parish in Lilly, Jack was deeply devoted to his Catholic faith. He had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and St. Padre Pio and was a proud member of the Lilly Knights of Columbus.
Jack had a lifelong love of music, especially The Beatles. In his younger years, he sang and played guitar with several local bands, sharing his passion for music with family, friends and the community. He also liked to bike ride, was an avid weightlifter and loved to box and exercise.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg, where a Vigil Prayer Service and a Knights of Columbus memorial service will be held.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Our Lady of the Alleghenies Church, with the Rev. Father Matthew Reese, celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Brigid Cemetery, Lilly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jack's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or to the family.
