Jean L. Stonerook

Jan. 20, 1931 – July 15, 2026

Jean L. Stonerook, 95, of Martinsburg, passed into life eternal on Wednesday at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Adam and Helen (Weidensaul) Meiklejohn.

On Aug. 27, 1955, she married John E. Stonerook at First Presbyterian Church in Altoona. John passed away Sept. 30, 2016, after 61 years of marriage.

Surviving are a daughter, Karen Sell (Jeffrey) of Duncansville; a son, Dwight Stonerook (Hope) of Leesburg, Va.; and four grandchildren: Michael and Bryant Sell and Adam and Lydia Stonerook.

Her sister, Helen Sperry in Ohio, passed away in 2018.

Jean was a 1948 graduate of Altoona High School and graduated from Zeth Business School in Altoona. Prior to her marriage, Jean worked for Penelec and later was employed by the Martinsburg Community Library for 15 years.

She was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Martinsburg.

Jean had been a member of the Everett Do Si Dos Square Dance Club and had formerly volunteered at Morrisons Cove Memorial Park and Homewood Retirement Center.

Her interests were genealogy, photography, traveling, handwork, doing cryptograms and especially spending time with her family.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2026, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Martinsburg; and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the church, with Pastor Traci Marriott officiating. Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

Arrangements are by Fink & Stone Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Martinsburg.
