Moyer
Our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to our beloved aunt, Gladys G. Moyer, 102, of Altoona, who passed away peacefully on Monday at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona.
She was born in Altoona, the daughter of Thomas and Emma (Neugebauer) Filer.
Gladys was married to Lynn S. Moyer, who preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1982.
Surviving are her great-niece, Jackie Mayers, of State College; and her great-great-nephew, Nick Mayers and his wife, Melissa, of Marietta, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Filer; twin sister, Mildred Brumbaugh; her husband, Melvin; nephew, Thomas Brumbaugh, and his wife, Shirley; and sister-in-law, Shirley Moreland, and her husband, Phil.
Gladys was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.
She was a member of the Unter Uns Ladies Auxiliary, where she enjoyed dancing, polkas and making costumes and decorations for the various events with her beloved group of friends.
Gladys had endless creativity and enjoyed crafting, sewing and especially jigsaw puzzles. She loved children and all kinds of animals. She especially loved spending time with family and friends.
Her home was always a welcoming place filled with laughter, great conversations and her delicious banana bread.
She leaves behind beautiful memories of her spirit, strength, generous heart and a warm personality that family and all who knew her will hold dear. She was truly one-of-a-kind and will be greatly missed.
We would like to thank the staff at Maybrook Hills for the wonderful care they gave to Aunt Gladys and the kindness they showed to our family.
Friends will be received from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2026, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. in the Stevens Memorial Chapel. Interment will be held at Blair Memorial Park.
