George H. McClain, 70, Altoona, died June 23, 2026. He was born in Gadsden, Ala., the son of the late George and Fannie Bell (McClain) Thompson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna; a son, Lamar Johnson; and brother, James Bonner. Surviving are children: Dominic Alexander, Katwana Johnson, Danielle Alexander and Christy Elliot; five grandchildren; and a brother, Nathaniel. George was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. A time of fellowship will be held from noon until the 1 p.m. service Thursday, July 23, 2026, in the Stevens Memorial Chapel, 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona.
