Elmer H. Bathurst, 88, of Altoona, went home to be with the Lord on Friday. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Raymond R. and Margaret M. (Dibert) Bathurst.
Elmer married Donna (Horner) on Oct. 10, 1959, who survives.
Also surviving are two children, Raymond Craig Bathurst and his wife, Marcia, and Debra Plazio and her husband, Steve; five grandchildren: Heidi Copsey (Brian), Angela Miller, Jessica Gentile (Carmine), Matthew Palochak and Cora Baker; three great-grandchildren: Vincent Sprouse, Carmine (Nooch) Gentile and Leanna Sprouse; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Collingwood; two brothers, Dale and Raymond Bathurst; his two sisters, Helen Joyce Figart and Maxine Upp; and his childhood friend, Blaine Locke.
Elmer served as an Airman in the U.S. Navy, where he toured the Mediterranean and was stationed in Brunswick, Maine.
After being employed by Dodson TV and SKF USA Inc., Elmer became a self-employed home building contractor working with his son, Raymond Craig, and retired at the age of 80.
He was a member of First Church of Christ, Altoona, and enjoyed gardening and spending time with family.
Family and friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. memorial service Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Rose Hill Funeral & Cremation Care Inc., 118 Rosehill Cemetery Drive, Altoona.
