Charles Edward "Ed" Ford Jr., 76, of Altoona, passed away on June 4, 2026, in Venice, Fla., his snowbird home. He was born in Altoona and was the son of the late Charles E. Ford and Leila Smith Ford.
He is survived by his son, Charles "Chip" Ford (Melissa); grandson, Chase Jonathan Ford of Rock Hill, SC; sister, Holly Ford Marsh (Frank) of Venice, Fla.; and nephews, Andrew Edward Marsh and Dr. Jonathan Ford Marsh of Indianapolis.
Ed graduated from Altoona High School in 1968, attended Valley Forge Military Academy Junior College and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business - Music Merchandising from the University of Miami in 1972.
He retired in 2013 as the President and Owner of Ford Music Store Inc., the family business founded by his father in 1935.
Ed was a proud member of Spruce Creek Rod and Gun Club for 50 years, Mountain Lodge No. 281 F&AM, AASR Valley of Altoona, Altoona Kiwanis, the Bavarian Aid Society, the NRA and the National Association of Music Merchants.
He was an avid hunter, a fly and deep-sea fisherman, a dog lover, a grill master and a diehard Pittsburgh and Penn State sports fan.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, with a Memorial Service/Celebration of Life immediately following at 1 p.m.
Interment will take place at Alto Reste Park.
