Ronan
Virginia Lucille Ronan, 75, lovingly known as VA to many, passed away peacefully in Ocala, Fla., on May 13, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Palatka, Fla., the daughter of Herbert and Beulah Thrasher. From a young age, Virginia carried herself with strength, kindness and resilience — a hallmark of the woman she grew to be.
Virginia was the devoted wife of Tom Ronan of Altoona for 40 years. She was a loving mother to her son, Thomas Wade (Melissa) Boaz; and her daughter, Rebecca Aileen (Jasaan) Arruda, from her previous marriage. Virginia also leaves behind two grandchildren, Zach and Mia.
To know Virginia was to know a woman of remarkable talent, intelligence and compassion. She possessed a rare curiosity about the world and a wealth of knowledge that seemed to span every subject imaginable.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that her long battle is over and that she is finally at peace.
