Samantha Mary ‘Sam’ Brisini
Feb. 14, 1989 – June 22, 2026
Samantha Mary “Sam” Brisini, 37, Ebensburg, passed away Monday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Altoona, daughter of Samuel and Rebecca (McMullen) Brisini.
She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Dr. Samuel and Marie Brisini; maternal grandparents, Albert and Marie McMullen; and godmother, Dorothy Letcher.
She is survived by her parents; her cat, Lucy; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and cherished friends.
Samantha earned dual bachelor’s degrees in history and political science from the University of Pittsburgh, where she also completed a master’s degree from the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs. She later earned a master’s degree in education from Saint Francis University.
Samantha was a junior high teacher at Saint Michael School in Loretto, where she taught social studies and other subjects. She was the drama director and forensics coach at Bishop Carroll High School in Ebensburg, where she was known for directing outstanding musicals.
She was a board member at Cresson Lake Playhouse and loved the theater and all types of music.
Samantha was also a PIAA soccer referee. She was a big sports fan, especially soccer and Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. Samantha enjoyed nature and the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. She liked to travel, cook and experience different cultural cuisines. Samantha was an avid reader and had a passion for history. She was an amateur photographer with a special interest in astrophotography. She enjoyed large family gatherings and family genealogy.
Samantha was a kind and extraordinary person who would do anything for anyone. She was beloved by her students, both at Saint Michael School and Bishop Carroll High School.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Gibbons-Penksa Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2026, at Holy Name Catholic Church, 500 N. Julian St., Ebensburg, with Father Brian Warchola officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Michael School, Loretto; or Bishop Carroll High School’s Drama or Forensics Clubs, Ebensburg.
