Paul Edward Nuss Sr.

Paul Edward Nuss Sr., 79, of Martinsburg, passed away Sunday at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Maynard "Mundy" and Helen (Kohler) Nuss, and grew up in Patton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Garson; and brother, Maynard Nuss of Wasilla, Alaska.

Surviving Paul are his first wife, E. Bernadette Nuss (Molek), and their three children: Gretchen Kusmierz of Shillington, Ingrid Nuss (Matt Taube) of Atlanta, Ga., and Paul Nuss Jr. (Esther) of Mohnton; his six grandchildren: Kevin Kusmierz (fiancee, Danielle Dudak), Jason Kusmierz, Ryan Kusmierz, Ava Kusmierz, Logan Nuss and Delilah Nuss; as well as his stepchildren, Jason and Andrew Sloaf. Paul is also survived by his three siblings: Helen Terza (George) and Tamsen Nuss (Ken Sweeney), both of Altoona, and David Nuss (Mandy) of Cortland, Ohio; and his companion, Mariemma "Mem" Miller of Dysart; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He operated the family-owned business, Mundy's Welding Supply, until 1997. He then worked as a financial advisor for NEXT Financial; was a part-owner of Northern Storage and Gun Shop, and was a corporate pilot for Sheetz Inc.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Baker-Sell Airport, 4686 Woodbury Pike, Woodbury. Those who are able to fly in are welcome to do so. Transportation from Altoona-Blair County Airport will be available for those unable to land at Sell's airstrip.

There will be a private interment at Fairview Cemetery in Patton.

Arrangements are by The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona.
