Lois Mary (Dickson) Hughes, 95, of Ebensburg, passed away Monday. She was born in Westmoreland County, daughter of the late Walter E. and Gaynell B. Dickson.

Lois was also preceded in death by her brothers, Norman and Blair Dickson; a sister, Janice Gourley; and her husband, Isaac “Ike” Hughes, to whom she was married for 63 years.

Surviving are children: Sara Jane (Tim) Reilly, Chester (Marie) Hughes, Ronald (Fonda) Hughes, Donna (Pat) Kirby, Mary Ellen (Keith) Bard and Margaret (Gary Byers) Hughes; grandchildren: Tim (Lindsay) and Bill (Lindsay) Hauze, Amanda (Zach) Long, Andy (Claire) Hughes, Allison (Joe) Simmers, David (Brittany) and Jon (Lexi) Kirby, Laura (Zach) Walker, Emma (Sebastyn) Kissell and Ben (Victoria) and Rebecca Bard; great-grandchildren: Kaden, Zander and Bryce Hauze; Grayson, Wakefield and Oliver Hauze; Oscar Long; Anastasia, Bennett, Declan and George Simmers; Frances, Sean and Brennan Kirby; Evelyn and Cooper Kirby; Joseph, Arzella, Roland and Walter Walker; Isaac, Everett and Silas Kissell; and Maren and Russell Bard. Also surviving are her brother, Alvin (Barbara) Dickson; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

Lois was a member of South Ebensburg United Church of Christ for 73 years, serving in many offices. She was Past President of the Pennsylvania Society of Farm Women, served on local, regional and state committees for PA Cooperative Extension, 4-H leader (20 years), Cambria County Fair Building Superintendent (20 years), Ebensburg and Salix Stitchers making crib quilts for charity.

She enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, daily newspaper crosswords and jumble puzzles.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2026, at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg; and from 10:30 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, June 6, 2026, at First United Church of Christ, Ebensburg, with Andy Jones officiating. Interment to follow at Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg.
