John A. ‘Bumper’ Traficante

John A. “Bumper” Traficante, 89, of Altoona, passed away Wednesday morning at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. He was born in Altoona, son of the late John and Olive (Stephens) Traficante.

On May 28, 1958, John married Donna J. Johnson.

Surviving are his loving wife; three daughters and their spouses: Tina Mitchell (Walt) of Everett, Stacy Gutshall (Tim) of Hobe Sound, Fla., and Kelly Park (Ron) of Altoona; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Wilson.

John was a 1955 graduate of Altoona High School, and afterward joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War.

He was the owner and operator of Johnny’s New & Used Furniture.

John was a member at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.

He was also a life member at the UVA.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Maybrook Hills, the Altoona Veterans Home Health Team and 365 Hospice for their compassionate care.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2026, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona.

A funeral service with military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2026, in the Stevens Memorial Chapel by the Franciscan Fathers.

Committal will be held at Alto-Reste Park.
