Joan E. Frye

Joan E. Frye, 96, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Wednesday morning at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary (Robinson) Porta.
Joan married Frank K. Frye, who preceded her in death in 1986.
She is survived by her sons, Anthony Frye and Michael “Mick” Frye (Barbara), both of Altoona; four grandchildren: Tammy, Annette, Samuel and Teela; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and her brother, Ernie Porta (Judy) of Landenberg.
Joan was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Darla Frye; and her brother, Raymond Porta Jr.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2026, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 344 Baynton Ave., Altoona, with Monsignor Michael Becker, celebrant. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
