James Bernard “Bernie” Robinson, 78, Altoona, died Friday night at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital, Johnstown. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late James E. and Helen L. (Olson) Robinson.
On Aug. 23, 1969, he married Debby S. Jodon in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife of almost 57 years, Debby; two sons, Trevor Robinson (Darci) and Derek Robinson (An); a daughter, Hilary Koch; eight grandchildren: Meagan, Tyler, Halee, Leili, Lauren, Maleah Koch, Xavier Koch and Jaxson Koch; two great-grand-children, Emerie and Landon; and three brothers: Gordy, Alan and Scott Robinson.
He was preceded in death by his father; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marvin and Jayne Jodon.
Bernie was a 1968 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School and served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
In 1968, he was manager of the JCPenney restaurant and in 1970, he received an award from the company for best restaurant in JCPenney stores. From 1975-90, he was the owner and operator of Dockside Restaurant and Lakeview Luncheonette at Seven Points at Raystown Lake. He retired from Ebensburg Center, where he was the dietary manager.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. memorial service today, June 30, 2026, at Juniata United Methodist Church, 808 N. Fourth St., Altoona, with Pastor Denise Haskins officiating.
Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Altoona.
