Robert H. ‘Bob’ Tower
June 23, 1954 – May 8, 2026
Robert H. “Bob” Tower, 71, of Tyrone, passed away May 8, 2026, at home. He was born in Philipsburg, a son of Russell L. Tower and Vivian L. (Lewis) Tower.
Bob is survived and missed by his loving wife of 44 years, Rachelle C. (Beery) Tower; a daughter, Renee C. Tower-Anderson (Robert) in New Jersey; two sisters, Beverly L. (Tower) Moskol of Altoona and Carol A. Tower of Sandy Ridge; three grandchildren: Vivian Tower, Caleb Tower and Colton Anderson; four nephews; and a niece.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Jane (Tower) Drass.
Bob retired in January 2008 from the Pennsylvania State Police as a mechanic after 33 years of service.
He found the greatest joy in the thrill of the ride, finding peace and freedom on the open road, clocking countless miles with numerous different motorcycles. Bob had various hobbies throughout the years. He was an active member of the Cartwright Hunting Club and the Tyrone Sportsman Club. In his younger, more active years, he would jump through obstacle courses in I.P.S.C. Speed Shooting. He also dressed like John Wayne in an old-style western and used a single-action revolver in a style called Cowboy Shooting.
Bob had a deep respect for history and brought the past to life when he was an active WWII reenactor. He would search for lost relics at flea markets and showcase them like a museum. From the local quarries to the shipwrecks deep in the oceans, he would don a scuba suit searching for lost treasures. He was also an avid reader who loved to delve into the vast unknowns of sci-fi and into strategies of military fiction.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone.
