Phyllis J. Kosut, 89, of Reston, Va., formerly of Hollidaysburg and Altoona, passed away April 25, 2026, at Tall Oakes Assisted Living, Reston, Va. Phyllis was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Chalmer E. and Winifred (Heath) Trotter.
She married Edward G. Kosut on Oct. 9, 1967, at St. Therese Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2006.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen L., and husband, Andrew Greger, of Oak Hill, Va.; a son, Timothy of Henderson, Nev.; granddaughters, Amanda Greger and Abby Greger; a sister-in-law, Betty Trotter; two nephews; and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Stewart Trotter.
Phyllis was a former member of The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.
She was a teacher’s aide for the Altoona Area School District.
Phyllis was a member of Altoona High School Alumni, PSAR and volunteered at Bon Secour Hospital and then at UPMC for 15 years.
Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2026, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona.
A funeral service outside of Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the funeral home, with Monsignor Stanley J. Carson officiating.
Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
