Leslie W. “Les” Hart, 86, of Duncansville, died Monday afternoon at Celebration Villa of Altoona. He was born in Great Neck, N.Y., a son of the late Leslie J. and Agnes E. “Betty” (Rude) Hart.

He married Linda C. Knox on May 18, 1991, at Broad Avenue Presbyterian Church, Altoona.

Surviving are his wife, Linda; a sister-in-law, Cynda Hayden (Michael) of Mason, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Gary Knox (Ken) of Tacoma, Wash.; a brother-in-law, Randy Knox (Wendy) of New Castle; five nieces and nephews: Matthew Hayden (Dawn), Emily Welch (Michael), Cory Wagner (Mara McConahy), Craig Knox (Brooke) and Chad Knox (Maria Sherrin); and 10 grand-nieces and nephews: Zachary, Nathan, Landon, Isabelle, Lillyana, Cameron, Dominic, Caleb, Mila and Isabella.

Mr. Hart was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church, Altoona.

He was a 1958 graduate of Bald Eagle Senior High School; a 1964 graduate of St. Mary’s University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Personnel Management; and a 1985 graduate of Golden Gate University with a Master of Business Administration in Human Resources Management.

Les was a United States Air Force, United States Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard (New York and Virginia) veteran. He retired as a Senior Master Sergeant USAF with 24 years’ total service.

He was employed by Grumman Aerospace Corp. in their Lunar Module Program; he was also an assistant manager at Hart Hardware and employed by the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home as a training officer, from where he retired in 2002.

Les enjoyed golfing, gardening and music, playing in various community bands. He was a well-known local bugler, especially with the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard, having played at eight hundred funerals of his fellow veterans. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol.

Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2026, at Providence Presbyterian Church, 2401 Broad Ave., Altoona.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Providence Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Hilary Livingston officiating.

Interment will be made at Greenlawn Burial Estates, Butler.
