John G. Hartsock, 84, Duncansville, died Tuesday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late John N. and Emma Mary (Smith) Hartsock.
He married Joan E. Boyd on Oct. 3, 1964, at Hicks Memorial United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Heather J. Merriman (Robert) of Duncansville; two granddaughters, Hannah Merriman of Rural Valley and Olivia Merriman of Duncansville; and two brothers, Dr. Thomas G. Hartsock and Stephen L. Hartsock, both of Clarksburg, Md.
John was a 1960 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He retired from Berwind-White, where he was a welder, and Hoss’s, where he was a truck driver.
He was a member of Hicks Memorial Methodist Church and the Hollidaysburg Masonic Lodge #220 F&AM, where he was a Past Master in 1986 and had recently received his 50-year pin.
John enjoyed lifelong antique car collecting, farming, horses and socializing with church friends.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2026, at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., Duncansville; and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Hicks Memorial Methodist Church, Duncansville. The Rev. Rich Morris will officiate.
