Jacqueline A. ‘Jackie’ DelGrosso
April 3, 1931 – May 1, 2026
Jacqueline A. “Jackie” DelGrosso, 95, Altoona, entered into eternal rest on Friday at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Mary (Cataldo) and Thomas DelGrosso.
Surviving are her loving sister, Sister Paula DelGrosso; a niece, Brenda Green; great-nephews: Jeremy Green, Jordan Green and Aftyne Green; a great niece, Autumn Green; a special friend and cousin, Patty Trexler; and a special friend, Sister Pauline Kawtoski.
In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her loving sister, Grace Good.
She graduated from Lock Haven State Teachers College with a degree in education. Jackie taught at Hollidaysburg Area School District until her retirement in 1990, when she began working as the main cook at the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen, which she did for many years.
Jackie was Catholic by faith and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altoona. She loved golfing at Park Hills Country Club and won the women’s championship there many times. She was also an avid bowler.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all the DelGrosso cousins for their faithful support of Sister Paula and St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen, including Bo DelGrosso and wife; Joey DelGrosso and wife; Jimmy DelGrosso and wife; Linda DelGrosso; Cindy and Peter Gardella; Maryanne and Carl Krider; and Kathy DelGrosso.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Santella Funeral Home, 1106 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a prayer vigil for the deceased will be held at 6 p.m., with Father Lubo officiating.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 511 20th St., Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jacqueline’s name may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen, 2201 Union Ave., Altoona, PA 16602.
