Gloria M. “Peachy” Gaines, 86, formerly of Tipton, died Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter in Bellwood. She was born in Williamsburg, a daughter of the late James and Margaret I. (Hammond) Brantner.
On Aug. 12, 1959, she married Chester Robert Gaines at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Tyrone. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2018.
Surviving are her four daughters: Linda (Joseph) DelGrosso of Bellwood, Terri (Don) Larson of Mozambique, Africa, Robin Miller (Mike McIntyre) of Tipton and Jill (Lee) Williams of Bella Vista, Ark.; 15 grandchildren; 15, plus one expected, great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Annalee Gaines (Robert) Matsko and Carol Brantner.
She was preceded in death by siblings: Robert, Kenneth and F. Ronald “Jack” Gaines and Patricia Romano.
Gloria was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood.
An avid reader, she also enjoyed her book club, bowling with her league and traveling with Chet across the country with the car club. Peachy was a great seamstress, having made the clothing of her four daughters while they were growing up.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home Inc., Bellwood, where a vigil for the deceased will also be held.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood, with the Rev. Michael Pleva, celebrant. Committal will be at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Preserve at Cedarwood, Garvey Manor and Gentiva Hospice for the wonderful care given to Gloria.
