Francis “Jerry” Basal, 83, of Duncansville passed away Friday. He was born in Cresson, son of the late Joseph and Julia (Glass) Basal. He married Alice R. Byrnes in 1962.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years; two daughters, Deborah Andrews and husband, Mike, of Hollidaysburg and Lisa Loose and husband, Lloyd, of Tyrone; a son, David, and wife, Brenda, of Duncansville; four grandchildren: Katelyn, Brandon, Kyle and Brenton; and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Luetkenhaus; and a brother, Joseph.
He was preceded in death by siblings: Patricia, James and Leonard Basal.
Jerry attended Cresson High School and “retired” as proprietor of Basal Construction, and operated Longview RV Storage.
He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
Jerry enjoyed working, camping, and his dog, Gracie.
Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a Vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at St. Rose of Lima, Fr. John Lynam Celebrant.
Private interment at New St. Mary Cemetery.
