Carol J. Sickle, 83, of Duncansville, peacefully passed away Saturday at Colonial Courtyard in Tyrone. Born in Altoona, she was the beloved daughter of the late Harry Blake and Anna Ruth (Burke) Wogan.
Carol is survived by her loving daughter, Kathy Emerick; cherished grandchildren: Tia Smith, Sean Emerick and Jamie Emerick; great-granddaughter, Emilia Emerick; sister, Beverly Snyder; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Cheryl Smith and Helen Sickle; and siblings: Robert Wogan, Deanna Wogan and Dotty Jean McCready-Williams.
Carol went to Altoona High School, graduating in 1960. Following graduation, she proudly answered the call to serve her country by enlisting in the United States Army Women’s Army Corps, where she served honorably from 1961-63 during the Vietnam War era. Her military service was a source of great pride throughout her life.
Following her honorable discharge from the Army, Carol began a dedicated career with Appleton Paper, where she worked faithfully until her retirement.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Colonial Courtyard in Tyrone and Bristol Hospice for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Carol and her family.
Interment will be held at noon on Friday, May 15, 2026, with full military honors.
