O’Donald
Betty J. O’Donald, 101, of Lansdale, formerly of Bellwood, passed away peacefully on Mother’s Day. Born in Reightown, Antis Township, Betty was the daughter of Brincely and Catherine Miller. She was one of eight children, and raised in the beautiful Allegheny Mountain region she always considered home.
Growing up during the Great Depression, Betty learned the importance of family, faith and perseverance. After graduating high school, she moved to Harrisburg, where she proudly worked as a welder at the Air Force Depot in Middletown during World War II. She later returned home to work for the PRR, where she met her future husband, William “Bill” O’Donald.
Betty and Bill married in 1945 and built a loving life together while raising their three daughters: Linda Kay, Billie Jean and Carol Anne.
A woman of deep faith, Betty was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and volunteered with the local food bank, where she also served as treasurer. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, swimming, watching sports and spending time near the ocean.
Most of all, Betty treasured her family. She will be remembered for her strength, kindness, faith and the love she shared throughout her remarkable life.
Betty is survived by her daughters: Linda Gunsallus, Billie Lewis (Mike) and Carol Davis (Stephen); her grandchildren: Jennifer Gunsallus, Christopher Lewis and Amy Lewis; and five great-grandchildren.
When asked the secret to her long life, Betty would simply say, “Good genes, and happiness is key.”
Private services will be held at the convenience of her family.
Arrangements are by Jon C. Russin Funeral Home Inc., Bellwood.
