Beatrice ‘Bea’ McMullen

Beatrice “Bea” McMullen, 101, of Northern Cambria and Graystone Manor at Bellmeade, Altoona, died May 22, 2026, at UPMC Altoona. Born Nov. 18, 1924, in Barnesboro, she was the daughter of Frank and Antonia (Spadaro) Sgro.
Beatrice was the last remaining member of the Sgro family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William; her parents; sisters, Frances Sgro, Catherine (John) Senita, Dominica (Howard) Limburg and Mary (William) Gaul; brothers, Peter Sgro and infant brother Antonio Sgro; and brothers- and sisters-in-law: Betty (Patrick) Lantzy, Paul (Nancy) McMullen, Ronald (Janis) McMullen and Robert McMullen.
She is survived by her sons, William C. (Holly) McMullen and F. Daniel McMullen (Janet Simanski); daughter, Kathleen (Richard) Loman; grandchildren: Michael, Lynne, Tess and Sophie McMullen and Christopher and Corey (Andrea) Loman; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are brothers- and sisters-in-law: Naomi McMullen, James (Patricia) McMullen, Charles (Janet) McMullen, Mary Ellen (Thomas) Lowe, Shirel (Paul) Lefko and Patrick (Diane) McMullen.
Beatrice retired from the Bureau of Employment Security after 40 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed walking, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Bea especially cherished her many friends at Cambrian Hills and enjoyed trips to various golf courses with them.
She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, a former board member of the Barnesboro Public Library, a member of Cambrian Hills Country Club and a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. A special thank you is extended to the staff of Graystone Manor at Bellmeade for their compassionate care.
Family and friends will be received from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Barrett Funeral Home, 822 Philadelphia Ave., Northern Cambria, before the 10 a.m. funeral Mass to be celebrated at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Northern Cambria, with the Rev. Canice McMullen, O.S.B., celebrant. Interment will be at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Northern Cambria.
