Walter W. “Skeets” Bagley, 84, of Altoona, formerly of Hollidaysburg, passed away Sunday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Baltimore, Md., son of the late Walter and Mildred (Gardini) Bagley.

Walt married Eugenia J. “Jean” Piotrowski on July 8, 1961.

Walt is survived by his loving wife of 64 years; two daughters, Lori Beck (Bob) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Tracey Walsh (Derek) of San Antonio, Texas; two sons, Doug Bagley (Jennifer) of Altoona and Mark Bagley (Christine) of Garnet Valley; nine grandchildren: Mandy Horn (Chase), Kelly Cardwell (Thomas), Kyle Walsh (Erica), Connor Walsh, Nicole Ickes (Jesse), Ally Bagley (Adam Mason), Eva Bagley, Tyler Bagley and Lauren Bagley; four great-grandchildren: Samuel, Timothy, Elizabeth and Chloe; two brothers, John Bagley (Carol) of Millsboro, Del., and Rodney Bagley (Deborah) of Altoona; two sisters, Peggy Kirsch (Alan) of Colver and Betty Young of Hutchinson Island, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nanette and Deborah.

Walt was a 1959 graduate of Altoona High School and attended Penn State University.

He retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as a professional engineer.

Walt was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

He was the past president of the PTA at St. Therese of the Child Jesus, former president of the Miss PA Pageant, former member of the Altoona Jaycees and belonged to the British Car Club and several other organizations.

Walt enjoyed building model airplanes, boats and trains, woodcarving and playing guitar. He was an avid Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Walt was also an accomplished author, having published three novels.

Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2026, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2026, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 5519 Sixth Ave., Altoona, with Father John Lynam, celebrant. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
