Stephen Stacey
Stephen Stacey, 78, of Altoona, died early Saturday morning, April 11, 2026, at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Altoona. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Margaret E. “Peggy” (Shay) Stacey.
He married Mary Jo Pellegrino on Aug. 24, 1991, who preceded him in death March 5, 2023.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Stacey and his wife, Sherry, and Anthony Pellegrino; a daughter, Lori Bollinger and her husband, Mark; two granddaughters, Stephanie Patterson and her husband, Tyler, and Joyce Coleman and her husband, Michael; three grandsons: Caleb, Gideon and Nicco Stacey; a great-granddaughter, Aria; a great-grandson, Torin; a brother, Daniel “Danny” Melley, and his wife, Cynthia “Cindy”; a brother-in-law, Tom Fornwalt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard “Dick” Stacey, and his wife, Kay; and a sister, Nancy Fornwalt.
Stephen was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam Conflict Era.
Mr. Stacey was formerly employed in the maintenance department of Pepsi Bottling and in the Environmental Department at UPMC Altoona.
Stephen loved spending time with his wife, Jo, and his family. He loved spending time with his “baby girls,” Chloe and Pepe. Stephen enjoyed cooking, watching NASCAR races and the FX and Syfy channels.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona. Military Funeral Honors will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in memory of Stephen please be made to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
