Sherrie A. Homan

Feb. 26, 1969 – April 21, 2026

Homan

Sherrie A. Homan, 57, of Altoona, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, surrounded by her family. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of Marcia (Kephart) Homan and the late Robert A. Homan.

Sherrie was a gentle and loving soul who was deeply cherished by her family and all who knew her. She brought comfort and joy to those around her in her own special way.

She enjoyed simple pleasures in life. Car rides with her parents early in life brought her comfort. Walking up and down her “old farm road” was a daily routine that provided both exercise and reflected her love of the outdoors. Sherrie loved being in the pool from the time it opened until it closed; she could spend hours in it. She loved watching Disney movies, and Mary Poppins sing-a-longs were among her favorites. Later in life, she became a big fan of SpongeBob SquarePants. She was also very fond of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Sherrie attended the Children’s Center from a young age. She then attended and graduated from Altoona High School in 1990. After high school, she continued to the Adult Center for Exceptional Learning (ACEL), where she spent many years surrounded by caring staff and friends.

Affectionately known to her loved ones as “Sissy” and “Sherrie Bear,” she will be deeply missed and forever loved.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ralph and Mary Homan and Elliott and Gladys Kephart.

She is survived by her mother, Marcia A. Homan; her brothers, Todd Homan and Travis Homan; her sister, Jennifer Hoffer; sisters-in-law, Lori (Todd) and Dianne (Travis); brother-in-law, Michael (Jennifer); and her beloved nieces and nephews: Hunter (Todd), Samuel, Leah, Hannah Mae (Travis) and Colyn, Kenzie and Livie (Jennifer).

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Altoona Family Services and the staff at ACEL for their compassion, care and support of Sherrie throughout her life. They would also like to thank the many caregivers whose kindness and dedication made a meaningful difference in Sherrie’s life.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Rose Hill Funeral & Cremation Care Inc., 118 Rosehill Cemetery Drive, Altoona.
