Richard Blair Fetzer, 60, of Philipsburg, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday. Born in Philipsburg, he was a son of Mary Louise (Shimmel) Fetzer, who survives of Gearhartville, and the late Kenneth J. Fetzer.

Rich was a 1985 graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola Area Senior High School and a graduate of the Computer Institute of Pittsburgh.

Following his education, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Bunker Hill during Persian Gulf.

Rich was currently employed at Penn State University, where he worked in maintenance for more than 32 years.

In addition to his mother, Rich is survived by a son, Kenneth Albert Fetzer of Osceola Mills; two brothers, Bryan Fetzer of Gearhartville and Thomas “Fuzzy” Fetzer and wife, Linda, of State College; a sister, Holly Fetzer of Philipsburg; seven nieces and nephews: Olivia Beck, Madison (RJ) Kephart, Makayla (Devon) Francke, Lainey Dillon, Kaye Loni Dillon, Brianna Fetzer and Tanner Fetzer; six great-nieces and nephews: Lillie and Ellie Kephart, Raylan Francke, Brylee Bratton, Nora Dillon and Colton Kephart (to be born in May); his fiancee, Michelle Lynn Stevens of Altoona, and her sons, Zachary Stevens and Scott Stevens (Rachel), all of Altoona.

Rich was preceded in death by his father; an infant brother, Kenneth James Fetzer; an infant daughter, Jacalyn Krystina Fetzer; maternal grandparents, Jesse B. and Jane (Jones) Shimmel; and paternal grandparents, Kenneth V. and Bertha (Templeton) Fetzer.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Dahlgren-Spewock Funeral Home Inc., 228 N. Centre St., Philipsburg; and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, April 10, 2026, at gFree Church, 305 Keystone Hill Road, Philipsburg, with Pastor Noel Meyers officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at the Philipsburg Cemetery.
