Mary Regina “Jean” Schneiderbauer, 80, of Altoona, passed away Thursday at the Hilltop Heights Health & Rehab Center in Johnstown. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Herman and Josepha (Ropp) Elder.
Jean was preceded in death by her sister, Bernice Svitana; and a brother, C. Joseph Elder.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Kenneth Schneiderbauer; her son, Jon Schneiderbauer and his wife, Melissa; her granddaughter, Paige Schneiderbauer; and two great-grandchildren, Rozlynn and Kolbee. Also surviving are her sister, Donna Pike (Bob); and many nieces and nephews.
Jean was a 1963 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School, and retired after 24 years of service as an administrative assistant for The Roman Catholic Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown.
Jean enjoyed quilting, sewing, camping and was an avid Penn State and Steelers fan.
Family and friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Rose Hill Funeral & Cremation Care Inc., 118 Rosehill Cemetery Drive, Altoona.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Lubomir J. Strecok, officiant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Altoona.
