Louis K. Stahl, 93, of Altoona, passed away Thursday at his home surrounded by family, including his dedicated caretakers, Briana Linton and Kaelynn Mielnik. Louis was born in Altoona, son of the late Warren and Edna (Swope) Stahl.

He married Joyce A. Klick on Oct. 14, 1955, in Altoona.

Louis was an Altoona High School graduate and served in the U.S. Army. He was a corporal with the military police during the Korean War.

He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as postmaster serving Fallentimber and East Freedom in 1989, after 31 years of service.

As a devout man of faith, he taught Sunday school, served as a superintendent of children’s church and dedicated his life to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Louis was a master woodworker. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and spending time with his wife of more than 70 years.

Louis is survived by his wife, Joyce; two daughters, Pamela (Gerald) Townsend and Cindy Dell; two sons, Andrew Stahl and Timothy (Jeannie) Stahl; grandchildren: Cory (Nikki) Linton, Brandon (Tracie) Linton, Brigette (Travis) McCall, Briana Linton, Kelsey (Amanda) Linton, Isaac (Theorie) Townsend,

Jennifer (Ron) Yorde and Cody Stahl.; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Winnie Smith and Linda (John) Rudasill.

He was preceded in death by his brothers: Thomas, John and Carl; and sisters, Mary and Elizabeth.

Friends and family will be received for viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona; and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, April 27, 2026, at First Church of God, 3007 Union Ave., Altoona, led by Louis’ daughter, Pamela Townsend.

Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.
