John M. Reed, 80, of Ashville, passed away Monday at home. He was born in Clearfield, son of the late John and Julia (Orlosky) Reed Sr.
He married Zola Dempsey.
Surviving are his wife of Ashville; a daughter, Teresa Kishlock and husband, Christopher; a son, Matthew; six grandchildren: Makayla Shutts (Connor), Marcella Kelly (Hugh), Garrett and Anevay Reed, Lukas (Zoe) and Adriana Amrhein; two great-grandchildren, Iris and Greyson; two sisters, Barbara Thompson and Julia Rossomme (Gary); and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Amrhein; and a sister, Bertha Adaline Reed.
John was an iron worker and then served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War and was wounded twice in battle. He owned his own masonry contractor business for 30 years and owned and operated a tourist attraction reptile farm for several years.
He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Military Order of Purple Heart and the Marine Corp Association.
John attended Buckhorn Bible Church of Ashville, and his greatest joy was for his children and grandchildren to know the Lord. He loved and treasured his family, and it made his day when everyone gathered for a good meal.
He enjoyed dabbling in the stock market, drawing and cooking.
Per John’s request, there will be no services.
Private interment at Arlington National Cemetery.
