Helen (Amick) Fowkes

Oct. 25, 1926 – April 11, 2026

Helen (Amick) Fowkes, 99 ½, of Lawrenceville, N.J., passed away at her home comforted by her daughter, Amy Aileen Fowkes; and her grandchildren, Cody Butler and Zane Zapata.

Helen was born in Wells Tannery, Pa. She was raised in Claysburg and married her high school sweetheart, William Fowkes, on March 27, 1946. After traveling around the United States and the world with her Air Force husband and four children, she and Bill retired and moved to Blue Knob, near their relatives in the central Pa. area. They later moved to Punta Gorda, Fla., and became active in the community. Helen loved traveling in their motor home and visiting their children and grandchildren around the country.

Helen had varied interests and was involved in the PEO AE Chapter Princeton, N.J., Wounded Warriors, P-38 National Association, Red Hat Society-Queen Mum, Mahjong, Synchronized Swimming and was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville. She was offered a full scholarship to a program at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., but could not accept due to her family obligations.

Helen is survived by her children: William (Karen) Fowkes, Amy Aileen Fowkes and Andrew (Joey) Fowkes; her grandchildren: Heather Fowkes Boyce, Alexis Aileen Fowkes, Colleen Leigh Johnson, Cody James Butler, Zane Fowkes Zapata, William Andrew Fowkes, Kaitlyn Christine Malchione, Samantha Jo Fowkes, Rachel Ann Fowkes and Barbara Ann Salas; great-grandchildren: Meridian Victoria Boyce, Genevieve Helen Boyce, McKinley William Boyce, Violet Rae Fowkes, Weston Allen Fowkes, Arianne Christine Dunwody, Ash Macauley Dunwody, Emily Elizabeth Malchione and Ewan Shane Salas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her son, Eric (Brenda) Fowkes; her granddaughter, Lindsay Victoria Fowkes; and her siblings: Geraldine Gordon, Fleta Ebersole and Chester Amick.

Inurnment will take place at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va., with her husband, Bill.
