Edward G. Schorner, 71, of Altoona, went home to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 16, 2026, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born in Altoona, son of the late Ethel (Rigg) and Adam Schorner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diane Grimminger.
Ed is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Mada Buda (Denny) and Carol Klobetanz (Randy); as well as his devoted nephews and nieces.
He found joy in many pastimes, including fishing, watching NASCAR and supporting the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. A devoted history enthusiast, Ed also enjoyed listening to music and playing Scrabble and pinochle.
In a generous act of kindness, Ed was an organ donor.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the CORE team (Center for Organ Recovery and Education) and Mercy Hospital Pittsburgh for their compassionate care during his illness.
A private service will be held at the family’s convenience. Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Altoona.
