David G. Himes, 75, of Logan Township, died early Saturday morning at his home. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Anthony C. and Dorothy A. (Briggs) Himes.
On June 26, 1970, he married Peggy D. Gonsman at United Methodist Church in McKee.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Chris (Sharon) in Oklahoma and Shawn of Altoona; six grandchildren: Lexus (fiance, Zach), Bailyn (Taylor), Kalin (Scott), Shannon, Shawn and Ava; four great-grandchildren: Rylee, Adelai, Ryker and Aurora; and his siblings: Charles (Jill) of Akron, Ohio; Richard (Robin), William (Cindy) and Ron (Debbie), all of Antis Township; Darlene (Don) Curry in Virginia; and Sherry (Jim) Merritts-Rhoades of Warriors Mark.
He was preceded in death by brothers: Paul, Joseph, Robert, Anthony “Pat” and Dennis.
David retired from the maintenance department at PPG, Tipton, and was owner of Himes Motors, Altoona.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed deer hunting, especially his hunting trips to Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Montana and British Columbia. His favorite pastimes included going to Brush Mountain Sportsman’s Club with his brothers, attending car shows and repairing and selling automobiles.
Private services will be held at the convenience of his family. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.
